An HSRP (High-Security Registration Plate) is a government-approved aluminium number plate built specifically to resist tampering and duplication. It includes:
- A chromium-based, hot-stamped hologram of the Ashoka Chakra
- A unique laser-etched serial number tied to your specific vehicle
- Non-removable snap locks that break rather than release cleanly
- Standardised fonts and format used consistently across every state
Together, these features make HSRP genuinely tamper-proof, helping authorities identify a vehicle quickly in the event of theft, an accident, or a routine traffic check. Today, every vehicle registered before HSRP enforcement began — commonly before April 2019 — is required to have one fitted.
